Productions & Co-Productions

Our Methodology

We sit

consciously between North and South, East and West—where we’ve always found our place.

While many of our past films are rooted in Syria, that is not a specialisation — it simply reflects the biographies of our founders.

Our name—No Nation Films—reflects our ethos and outlook.

We remain situated in between geographies and sensibilities— collaborating with filmmakers from Germany, France, Italy, Syria, Poland, and the Netherlands.

We focus on

the feature-length format and have developed our expertise around it.

We do not produce fiction, animation, short films, or VR experiences. We are not looking to do doc-series or TV magazines and broadcasting frame-work is not our mandate or limitation.

We specialise in film projects that has the cinematic and theatrical ambition, which finds a home on linear and non-linear broadcast.

We advocate

author-driven non-fiction cinema

We are drawn to narratives that defy borders—political, cultural, or conceptual. Narratives that resonate across time, space, and perspective and that warrants the time and attention of international audiences and the public investment that supports them.

We do not believe in films built around binaries or simplified arcs of good and evil. We are neither so big on “story” as a fixed rule, or on chasing the fleeting news cycles or those trend-driven narratives.

We prioritise

projects with meaningful connections to the German landscape—

be it through culture, language, location, creative collaborators, or themes.

We trust

co-production as a creative collaboration.

International co-production is not just a financial or logistical framework for us — but a process of mutual trust, exchange and inter-dependance.

We value partnerships that bring complementary skills to the table

We acknowledge the structural imbalances between producers across regions.

We stand

fully behind the filmmakers

As lead and majority German producer—most often on in-house productions by our co-founders - we are committed.

We also join as minority co-producers when there’s an established creative relationship or when a project presents a meaningful alignment with our artistic, political, technical, and human values.

Note for Filmmakers Wishing to Connect:

Please take a moment to explore our body of work—its genre, form, and approach. If you believe there’s a genuine creative match, feel free to reach out—ideally after checking in to see if we currently have capacity to consider new projects.

We’re unable to review projects that fall outside our scope, or those sent based on assumptions about our identity. What we’re looking for is creative compatibility.

We remain grateful for the interest we receive and the trust it reflects.
