Meet our newest Fellowship team; director Hazal Hanquet, and producers Aslıhan Altuğ and Anna Maria Aslanoğl, working on the project MY AUNTIES. They were awarded the No Nation Films Fellowship at DOK Leipzig 2025, and began their Fellowship in December 2025.
Hazal Hanquet is a Turkish-Belgian director born in 1996 in Istanbul. She studied Documentary Cinema in France and Argentina, where she developed a sensory approach to filmmaking, and has since directed Mesafeler and created visual works with Eksi On Altı Kolektif and Algorave Istanbul.
Aslıhan Altuğ is an Istanbul-based independent producer with a focus on documentary films. Her recent works include Amina, A Strange Colour of Dream, and Eclipse. She currently produces at Karga Seven Pictures while developing independent projects.
Anna Maria Aslanoğlu is an Istanbul-based producer and co-founder of istos publishing & film, established in 2012. A member of the European Film Academy, ACE, and EAVE, she has produced acclaimed films such as Zuhal, Yuva, Ela and Hilmi with Ali, and Otherwise in Istanbul.
MY AUNTIES is a feature-length documentary film on love and friendship between Aslı and Ayşın, two women, who director Hazal considered both as her aunts. Tracing together their queer journey across Istanbul through personal archives, photos, and reflections, Hazal uncovers a tale of resilience, love and quiet defiance in a society that sought to keep them hidden.
We are so pleased to welcome this team to the Fellowship.
